A short word on the technology
Water is brought up to a pressure of 4000 bar and then forces through a diamante inlay cutting head. The water beam comes out with a speed of over 1500km/h and is so powerful that nearly every material can be cut with it. When cutting very hard or thick materials – e.g. 50mm heat treated steel – fine sand is added to the water. This is called ‘abrasive’ jet machining.
